woz

an interview with woz about steve jobs...you might have to sit through an ad though to watch it...woz was the engineer and jobs was the business guy...you can probably guess that i'm partial to the engineer...plain to see just how different the two are in terms of personality, but they were able to work together and do some pretty amazing things...i don't like apple and the fanboyism/cult that it created, but i do respect what these two were able to do with just their ideas and ingenuity...however, all the comparisons of jobs to others like einstein is ridiculous in my opinion...there is a quote of him saying to the pepsi ceo who jobs was trying to recruit into apple if he wanted to sell sugar water or change the world...however, if you think about it, jobs' main impact was that he could package things nicely and sell it...he didn't invent anything...did the ipod really change the world?...the computer changed the world, but apple didn't invent that either...he definitely had an impact on certain industries and the way people did certain things but nothing that fundamentally changed the way we understand the world like einstein did...apple didn't really invent things like the mouse either...jobs saw that while touring xerox...jobs achieved more in his brief life than 99.99% of us will, and i am not taking away from what he did...what i don't like is the typical apple fanboyism that is making him to be a super genius who comes around only every 500 years and was some kind of technological messiah

the mini rant above probably sounds mean spirited although i just wanted to point out all the over-praising and share the interview video...they say jobs was influenced by buddhism (don't know if he actually practiced it), so for karmic reasons, i'll make it up with this nice tribute by wil wheaton
