the first three episodes of this season of game of thrones were spent setting up the story, and not much happened, which is pretty similar to how the books are - lots and lots of talking with bits of action...the fourth episode changed that with daenerys getting her army...it's what i've been waiting to see ever since she got to astapor, and emilia clarke did not disappoint...she delivered those lines like she really knew valyrian...much better than the other guy who played the person selling her the unsullied...people uploaded a bunch of clips of the final scene on youtube, because it was so good...they'll probably get taken down soon though...
the episode also had some great scenes that really captured the essence of the characters...any scene with varys and tyrion together is bound to be good, but the one where varys reveals some of his past is one of the best of the series even though it differs a little from the book...they've even been able to develop the relationship with jaime and brienne properly...casting for the majority of the main characters has been good...other good scenes were the ones between tywin and cersei, varys and lady olenna, and surprisingly a scene with sansa...sansa is one of the weaker characters but her scene where she shows a glimpse of happiness when talking to margaery shows how naive sansa still is even though she is learning that she can't trust anyone...bran is another weak character, and his storyline isn't too interesting to me in the show or in the books...
this episode is the best so far of the entire series in my opinion, but i think there could be even better ones since this season and the next are supposed to be based on a storm of swords, which i think is the best book of the series...
