most people and the media only focus on the consumer side of things and forget that microsoft's impact to companies around the world and how they run their businesses is ginormous compared to apple...take away apple's products right now, and the world can go on...take away microsoft's products, and most of the businesses in the world can't function...at least until they find substitutes for all the various types of business software that microsoft makes...
this also got me wondering about the type of software that apple uses...microsoft sells just about every major type of enterprise software that a company might need, so my guess is that they use their products in-house...for example, they probably use ms sql for all their databases, microsoft dynamics (erp and crm), sharepoint (collaboration), windows server, etc...however, what does apple use?...they don't have a lot of enterprise level software...they sell some server and san hardware and os x lion, but what do they have other than that?...do they have all proprietary software to run their business or do they use something like sap?...just curious to know
