i got a new key chain flashlight, so i thought a picture of what i carry everyday was appropriate
from left to right:
1. samsung bluetooth headset - it's cheap, light, and works ok...the foam cover for the ear bud comes off easily, and i had to get replacements
2. my old blackberry 8320 curve
3. citizen eco drive skyhawk watch - a good watch that does not need batteries...it is also good for traveling as all the time zones are stored in the watch, making it easy to switch to whatever time zone you're in...the only con i can think of is that it does not have a backlight, and you can't check the time when it's dark...the numbers and hands glow in the dark but only for a few minutes
4. old coach wallet...it's compact and lasts a long time
5. cheap $1 dollar knife from walmart...quality is decent for a $1 dollar knife, and i am not afraid to abuse it to its breaking point since it is so cheap...knives are meant to be used and not babied
6. my key chain...i have had this style of key chain since probably elementary school...the good thing is that the metal latch is convenient for pants/shorts that have belt loops or if you prefer, you can loop the leather strap around a belt if you are wearing one
7. freedom micro photon light is the new flashlight that i got...only 10 bucks...this is a cheap but good key chain flashlight...bright led with beacon, sos, and dimming functionality...also, you can replace the battery unlike most small keychain lights...it comes with a lanyard and a little clip that you can attach to the bill of a cap or your backpack strap to light the way in front of you
i used to have a small swiss army knife with flashlight and pen on the keychain as well, but i took it off since i had to get on a plane and didn't add it back onto the keychain...i would like to add a knife, but i am not sure which one...a couple other items that i like are the mini pry bar and pea lighter, but i doubt i'll get these...to me these are more novelty items than stuff that i would find use for...if i were really serious about survival, then maybe i would get them
i also have a p51 can opener that i could carry but don't
i posted this website in a previous post, but i'll post it again - http://everyday-carry.com/
you can see that most of the posts include a knife and flashlight of some sort...some of have pens that can be used as a weapon (too much for me)...some carry a gun...also, there have been more posts by women recently...interesting to compare...i think the website is getting more popular...some take the survival aspect of it seriously, some are just mall ninjas, and some just like the gear and is a hobby...i've always carried pocket knives, but more for utility than survival...i don't think my edc will grow beyond a knife and flashlight...just too much stuff to carry
